10.5 pounds of ground beef?

Burger war grows with new 15 pounder - Food, Inc. - MSNBC.com

this is out of hand. 15 pounds total? is it even humanly possible to eat 15lbs of food in a sitting (3 hour, if they kept the old limit, time limit)?

and what’s with the weak prize for the girl who ate the old big burger? certificate, tshirt, “other prizes” and no check that day? weak. i wonder, the line is “had offered a 6-pound burger–with 5 pounds of toppings.” so does that mean 11 pound total burger or 1 pound of meat and 5 pounds of toppings burger.

i think it would kill me, but i bet i could beat whatever challenge they have. seriously. i would die, but i’m a stubborn person. if i set out to eat the whole thing in X hours (X being reasonable time, it’s not like i could eat 15lbs of food in 15 minutes), i would do it, much to the dismay of my gastro-intestinal system….

now i’m craving a burrito

7Online.com: Giant Burrito Spurs Weapons Fears In Middle School

freebirds? chipotle? taco bell? mission burrito? none of the above more than likely for any number of reasons, which include not having time.

but this is a funny story. concerned citizens spies something suspicious. school locked down. 30 inch burrito.

my fave line of this article:

“We had to make up a product and it could have been anything. I made up a restaurant that specialized in oddly large burritos,”

haha, “oddly large burritos” hahah… i would’ve thought an eighth grader would’ve just said something like “big”or “huge” burritos.

btw, i wonder how many tortillas it took to make a 30″ burrito. hell a supermonster from freebirds (i know from experience) takes 2 HUGE tortillas!

yeah right

reading Texas Lawyer. they have an article by a partner at Akin Gump in houston about how to hire new lawyers (aimed at general counsels hiring new in-house counsel, though reading the article i don’t see how it’s specifically tailored to GCs). but the writer talks about hiring lawyers with desire.

Hire lawyers who have something to prove. In my experience, folks at the top of their law school class who served as the law review editor and have Roman numerals behind their names seldom have anything more to prove.”

uh-huh, and these are EXACTLY the people that Akin Gump hires. so i guess that leaves these people with desire for GCs to hire.

How to sit at a computer

figured anyone who’s reading this (all, at most, 3 of you) would be reading at a computer. ha, i mean it’s a blog, you’d have to, unless you decided to print out my blog and read it. highly doubtful.

maybe it’s race day at maybe just me…

nice to see oprah doling out the handy guide to race relations:

Speaking Saturday on her “Live Your Best Life” inspirational tour, [Oprah] warned white fans not to ask their black friends about hair issues because they couldn’t possibly understand. “Don’t go into it, because there ain’t no telling. It’s a strong cultural thing. We’re all alike in our veins, except for our hair,” Winfrey said.

The New York Times > Health > Fitness & Nutrition > The Consumer: Kick the Doughnut Habit, and Make Your Nutritionist Smile

the opening sentence is poorly written in that it doesn’t locate houston as being in texas. but since i know of no other houston (geography is not my strongest subject), and since it’s talking about unhealthy eating, i’m assuming it’s talking about houston, tx. at any rate, it’s on the blog because the first paragraph illustrates how terrible houston is when it comes to food and eating. according to houston’s website, houstonians eat out more than any other americans. couple that with the fact that you drive everywhere here and that the weather here is never really conducive to exercise (well not never, but the window is short; and of course discounting indoor options) and you end up with a very overweight city. but all that aside, it is the city in texas where i would be willing to live.

the title of the article is self-explanatory. it’s nice to read things like this actually happen outside of movies.

those poor ugly kids

The New York Times > Health > Ugly Children May Get Parental Short Shrift

better than the actual title is the short title on the nyt main page: “Parents Treat Ugly Children Worse”

it’s a short read, kind of amusing. apparently “good-looking” boys are kept in closer proximity to parents than “pretty” girls.

haha, why is it that boys are “good-looking” and girls are “pretty” beyond the obvious social/sexual implications/stereotypes? haha

it’s not “asian day” here at Maybe Just Me, but…

in my random reading of random blogs i ran across links to amazon for these two books. how ridiculous/funny/sad/scary/weird are they? ha.

How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men - Amazon.com

admit it, at least a little bit curious about the contents of these books aren’t you? hahaha

ridiculous… they are complaining why?

CNN.com - Asians poorly represented on TV - May 2, 2005

i don’t understand this. do people really want television to be an accurate reflection of reality? besides are asians really going to complain that they have a problem with being represented on television only in dramas that are set in professional environments, that they are portrayed as intelligent and hard-working? yes, that’s not a complete picture of asians as a group, but come on, it’s not like they are portraying crap identities. i get the impression that if there were “asian” sitcoms these people would be complaining that it made asians too slap-sticky, etc. and believe me, i watch more than my fair share of television, i’ve never once felt like this:

“From the viewpoint of individuals who are Asian Americans, (the low representation) says, ‘I don’t matter — I don’t see people who look like me, my culture, my community,”‘ said Cristina Pieraccini, a professor of communications at the State University of New York at Oswego.

i don’t know about other asian-americans, but i don’t tend to rate my self-worth: personally, culturally, or with regard to my community from whether or not i see asians on television.
