TIME.com: She’s Got the Look — Jun. 20, 2005
this is an article about chloe’s head designer philo. not really a great read or anything, unless you are into fashion, but worthy of blog space for this sentence you don’t read often:
[she] switched to fashion as a more practical career choice
CNN.com - Ketchup stain sparks e-mail flurry - Jun 17, 2005
you know what? there’s a reason donald trump picks up even pennies he sees on the ground (or so he claims). you don’t get rich passing up money or spending it needlessly. though this is a bit ridiculous, unless the ketchup splashing was intentional or done to a gross degree.
CNN.com - Cambodian bandits shot toddler to stop his crying - Jun 17, 2005
By the time police finally overpowered the four attackers — a full six hours after the siege began — the parents’ fury erupted. They kicked and beat three of the four, described by police as small town gangsters, and left at least one unconscious before authorities intervened
but i’d do the same thing as these parents, regardless of criminal liability. this had to be (though i don’t know) one of those situations where the police were like “i’m going to get coffee for 5 minutes and leave the suspects here with the mob, i’ll be right back.” though i wonder if the kidnappers were bound (i.e. handcuffed) while being beaten by the parents.
gotta give it up for playboy here though. at least he’s trying. what’s mildly annoying about hollywood types is they always complain that they don’t have relationships because people either (a) assume they are in a relationship or (b) are intimidated by them. they then go on to say they wish the prospective nice guy (or girl, though this applies more to starlets than guys, at least based loosely on interviews i remember generically) would just come up to them. of course neverminding that (1) they aren’t ever in places with “normal” people (i’m convinced every shot of them coming out of the grocery store or starbucks is manufactured, haha) and (2) they always seem to be filled with dread when people do approach them (you know when the “nice guy” comes up and says hello that the starlet already thinks the worst about this guy and now he has to work 100x harder to get anywhere).
regardless, i don’t think this guy will get a date with portman, but who knows. maybe she’ll see the site (i’m almost sure she will at some point) and maybe send him a nice little autographed pic or something.
Welcome to the Hollywood Stock Exchange
this is genius. a site that lets you play stock market but with movies. i’m all over this. but i don’t tend to like movies that make a lot of money. without trying to sound all movie snobby (because i’m not, without shame i say that i enjoy michael bay movies), but while i can enjoy movies for what they are supposed to be (e.g. michael bay = summer mindless fun with big explosions, sweeping camera views, low angle shots of our “heros”), i think the quality of movie is heading down and things that are quality don’t really get the headlines too much. that being said, i think foreign films while generally better, do get kind of a free pass where many people think they are better if only because they are foreign (and not necessarily because they are better)
VH1.com : Shows : The Greatest : child stars
this link will change as soon as vh1 makes their new greatest whatever list. i didn’t watch this, but caught the segment on macolm jamal warner (aka theo huxtable). and i’m sure i’ve heard it before, but it was very refreshing to hear macolm refer to bill cosby as mr. cosby and not bill.
