what’s in a name?

Filed under: tv, people, social - Just Me @ 12:13 pm

So instead of studying (which I will do as soon as I’m done eating lunch), I’m watching TV. And flipping around I stopped at Celebrity Fit Club. And one of the people (Jeff Connally or whatever, the guy from Grease) had some drug problems and was brought into see Dr. Drew Pinski in an emergency session.

So here’s the thing… is Dr. Drew the ONLY doctor in the country that you can call Dr. [insert first name here] and still take him seriously? Like if you go to a doc and he/she is like “Call me Dr. Bobb(y/i)” and the first name is a full name, can you really take that doc seriously? I couldn’t. But Dr. Drew seems to not suffer that problem.

Crazy woman gets a restraining order against David Letterman

This is a complete misuse of the legal system. How the hell did this get in front of a judge? How does the restraining order get passed? I don’t know a ton about criminal procedure in New Mexico, but doesn’t there have to be SOME proof? Come on!

BTW, in case you don’t feel like clicking the link, some crazy lady got a restraining order against Dave Letterman in New Mexico.

ordering him to not only stay nine feet away from local resident Colleen Nestler, but to no longer, as she puts it, “think of me, and release me from his mental harassment and hammering.”

This woman has claimed that Letterman is expressing his desire for her through code words, signals and eye gestures. One such code word? Oprah, as in “Marry me, Oprah.”

where is B&T?

Filed under: people - Just Me @ 11:35 am

DCist: Is Chinatown It?

I’d have to second the protest against the B&T comment. NoVa residents are worlds better than the NYC B&T crowd. NYC B&T types are WAAAY meatheadier than NoVa residents. I mean, B&T’s in NYC are from Jersey and Long Island, for christ’s sake! That’s where meatheads are born. NoVa residents are generally intelligent people who work jobs that require good educations. Do they make the same choices you make? No, not always. But are they all greasy-fake-tan-tribal-tattoo-in-from-Nassau-County-To-mate B&T shitheads? No. Not even close.

And besides, if you want to find some real Grade-A B&T, take a look at GWU. And last time I checked, that was in the District.

this is a comment from an article on dcist that asks if Chinatown is the new hip neighborhood in DC for going out. without getting into the argument (truth be told, I have no idea where the cool hip places are), this comment is so great. Lots of ppl try to compare DC to NYC. and the B&T descriptor for the ppl in NoVA and MD (fwiw, I live in NoVA currently, but if I could afford it, I’d live in DC probably) is used with some frequency. But being a gwu alum I totally agree with the gwu assessment, the B&T population there is HUGE. So many people are like “I’m from NYC” and they’re not even from one of the 5 boroughs. so great.

Would you keep it? I don’t know. Partially scratched off signature… $25k…. Actually my first instinct would be to give it back, but then greed would kick in. But I also always give back extra change when I get it.

I don’t care that she was on sleeping pills and alcohol and as such not in her right mind, hell she’s stupid enough for taking sleeping pills and alcohol. People are just stupid. Is this what evolution is doing? Doesn’t it seem like there is a divide now, only smart people and only stupid people? Craziness!
